Completing a task or fixing something often appears to be a lot easier than it turns out to be later. Instead of hiring someone to do the job, we sometimes believe in our capabilities a bit too much and tackle a task we should have never started dealing with. The list below shows people’s attempts at doing what the professionals would have done best.

1. The fly trap

Someone wanted to get rid of all the flies in the premises and we understand that. Having flies around all the time is annoying but we guess that there are things that can be done about it. The attempt someone made here is not one of them.

2. The designer

There are numerous things a graphic designer is responsible for. Their work must be flawless but there is also the matter of cooperation with the rest of the team. This cover made People magazine’s name to spell as “poop”.

Everyone has the ambition to become something and people often mistake their passion for something they already know how to do. In this case, someone thought they had what it takes to put these tiles but the end result is not good at all.

4. The elevator

It seems that some tasks are easier said than done and even the seemingly simple jobs prove to be much harder than expected. Someone had to label the buttons inside a new elevator and they did a terrible job at it.

Trying to negotiate with higher authority can be hard, if not impossible. This person wanted to have a word with her mother and the matter she wanted to discuss is obvious. She had to appoint her dad or a sibling because this note will not do her any good.

We all know how important road safety is. There are many rules all people must follow if they want to avoid accidents. In this case, the people responsible for the markings on this road did a sloppy job and safety is not on the top-level here.

7. The kitchen top

We genuinely believe that those who are responsible for a specific job need to be professionals at it and while we understand it all comes down to experience, basic training would lead to nice results, too. this person obviously decided to do things themselves.

Cars that are driven mostly in urban conditions often get this kind of damage. It is inevitable and this is why we pay for insurance. Still, this person decided to use an alternative way to fix the dent and they actually made a slight improvement.

Smartphones are awesome until they are shattered into a million pieces even after a short fall to the ground. Repairing them yourself is almost impossible as the fine mechanics requires a steady hand. This person decided to tackle the matter on their own.

Here is how engineering fails look like. Someone designed a wheelchair ramp which is awesome but there is a slight problem and we all see it. We guess that whoever built this had no engineering background whatsoever.

11. The museum

Doing business is not for everyone. You constantly need to be there in order to keep your endeavors up and running if you want to endure the pressure from the competition. In this case, one person could not care less about that.

Now, this is the kind of thing we have been thinking about all along because the badly designed staircases are the perfect example of why you should hire a professional to do the job for you. Otherwise, you risk an end result like this one.

There is nothing better than having original items at home. Not just collectibles but actual things you use – they are all much more valuable if they have all their original features and this is probably the reason why this person kept the torn sticker on their game and restored it. Still, a professional would have done a better job.

If you need to put up a sign of some sort, you need to make sure it is as informative and aesthetical as you wanted it to be. As you can see, someone did their best effort here but the end result is not great at all. It seems that it will confuse most clients who see it.

Trucks are sometimes easy to repair with a home set of tools but this is not always the case. Sometimes, you need to leave matters into the hands of a real mechanic before they get out of hand. As you can see, the engine in this pickup truck is already missing.

Well, there is not much we could add about this one because it is obvious what went wrong here. Someone tried to create a witty design and they succeeded at it but one thing is not as it should be – the E letter is unrecognizable.

17. The font

There are businesses that are not for the faint of heart and we believe that funeral homes are such endeavors. There is no telling how many people have noticed what us wrong in this picture and we assume that the owners chose the Disney font for some weird purpose.
