We have said it before and we will say it again: there are too many things out there to list or describe. Millions of people find or witness new and curious things every day, and they are often puzzled by their discoveries. It seems that thousands of people experience this every day, and the good news is that they take it to place such as Reddit when they cannot identify what they’ve come across. This is how we get to see curious things that we have also never seen before. The list below contains 20 peculiar things that demanded an explanation from someone familiar with them.

1. The water boiler

One person decided to boil some water, but noticed this green residue that you can see in the picture. We have never experienced such a thing and we have no clue what might have caused this. The people on Reddit were keen to help, and it became apparent that it was merely scale that citric acid would easily remove.

This is one awesome item that looked like it was made out of copper, but the person who posted this image revealed that it was made from clay. There is no telling if this is a unique piece or a mass-made product. The item turned out to be a pipe stand, and we have yet to see one in person,

Humankind has created a lot of tools, and their variety is too big to be catalogued by a single person. The tools one could see are sometimes too peculiar to be easily explained. In this case, the person came across a vintage soldering iron.

4. The wooden disk

This is the curious item one person managed to find, but had no clue about what it was. It was apparent that it served a specific purpose, but these avocado-shaped dimples are hard to be explained. As the people of Reddit explained, this thing was a cobbler’s nail cup.

It seems that some of the items people find are peculiar because they look like they do not have any purpose at all. Still, this is something that was clearly part of something, and the person who took the image asked other redditors for help. They revealed this was a lock back mechanism.

What looks like a pair of pliers is certainly something different, as we have used pliers numerous times and we know that this is something unusual for sure. The people on Reddit solved this mystery. The item is used by hairstylists, and it was a Marcel iron that needs to be oven heated to be used.

This is yet another curious tool that someone preserved well in a special case that is made specifically for it. Still, the person who shared this had no idea what it was. The leather case lettering did not reveal it, too. After a post on Reddit, it turned out this person found a very small tripod.

Even if you find something that looks familiar, you can still be wrong about it. What looks like a regular pair of pliers is something slightly different. The reality behind this instrument was a bit weird. It turned out this was a pair of pincers, and it was used to pull out horse nails. They also look like an instrument used to pull out tiles, too.

This is one curious piece, and we have no clue what it might be. The person who too the image also had no idea about what it was, and the best thing for them in order to learn more was to ask on Reddit. It turned out it was a lens used to read geographic maps.

We guess that people are sometimes blessed to find small gems such as this one. The small brass item looks awesome, but we have no clue what it might be. There were various guesses about its origin and purpose, but it eventually became apparent it was a special kind of thermostat.

One person decided to share the picture of what they believe was an old toy. There are numerous things that it also might be, but we cannot guess without further details. Redditors, however, had no trouble figuring this out, and they guessed it was actually a toy called gyro.

The person who posted this image described the details as cube-shaped parts on metal rods, and we see such things for the first time. After taking this matter to Reddit, the person found the answers they were looking for. It turned out it was a rare set of geomantic spindle dice.

Now, this is something very different, and we are not sure if this was an actual working piece or something meant to be used for decoration. It turned out that it was a vintage bottle stopper manufactured by a well-known manufacturer, and we love its design and appeal.

This is one of the last things one could expect to see after opening a Nutella jar. Still, this happened, and the person who saw these crystal blobs inside the jar demanded an explanation. It quickly became apparent that there was nothing to worry about, as it was just separated fat.

This is obviously an old instrument that had a specific purpose, but the user who shared this on Reddit was unaware of its name or designation. The answer was revealed by another user. It happened to be a part of a McCormick mower, and it makes sense.

One person was shocked to see this layer of red residue on the wheel hub of their car. The person took a wheel off and noticed it, but had no clue what it might be. Redditors quickly revealed that it was a special type of grease that prevented seizing of the wheels.

This is yet another curious item that was made from hard rubber and obviously used to do something. It happened to be a piece of karate equipment. The rubber was the base of some of the machines used for training.
