People are capable of creating awesome stuff, and we are sometimes flabbergasted by how cool things can be once they are completed with precision and talent. Still, there are moments when we feel the exact opposite way, as not all human achievements are worth praising, as there are sometimes mistakes that cannot be undone or unseen. This is what the list below is all about. It shows some of the worst design mistakes we have seen lately, and some of them are very peculiar, indeed.
1. The trash bin
Well, there you have it – another poor attempt to use a pretty font to spell something. The candle had to feature the word Spain, but the result is quite different.
2. The toy
Now, this is how an ad is not done correctly. It would take most people some time to figure out that someone wanted to spell GRAND on these elevator doors.
3. The anaconda
We know that anacondas are dangerous and that they can reach a whopping length. Still, this visual comparison is not as accurate as these people probably thought it would be.
4. The mirror
People who really like taking selfies in mirrors would be greatly disappointed by this particular one. As you can see, this mirror has various layers and sections, which is weird.
5. The buttons
This is one weird way to arrange symbols. You can see that the left one increases brightness, and the right one reduces it, which is strange, as it should have been the other way around.
6. The style
This is one of those visual styles that can confuse anyone, and you can see why. It took us several minutes to figure out what they wanted to say with it.
7. The machine
Now, this is something that can be dangerous, not to mention that it could be triggered instantly. The code blue button is just like the other regular buttons, which is a no-no.
8. The sticker
Every now and then, we see something that puzzles us way too much than it should. This huge sticker that is part of an advertisement on a bus is such an example.
9. The stairs
Wow, this must be the worst example of stairs we have seen in a while, and you can see why. It looks as if someone tried to make these stairs sturdier, but the result is downright dangerous.
10. The bleach
Here is how some marketers fail to realize their product might be dangerous. As you can see, the bottle looks exactly like a shampoo or a shower gel. Bleach should never look like this.
11. The handwash
Now, this is something else that made us think why would someone choose such a label for a bottle of shampoo? Mouth-watering and shampoo should never be out on the same label.
12. The sticker
We get why this sticker was placed there, and we get what it tries to say, but the poor design really makes it hard to understand. It might be missing an “o”.
13. The other sticker
It seems that some marketing campaigns are not thought through, and this one is a perfect example of that. Would you dare to jump from that height?
14. The field
We have no idea how this happened, and we believe that people who create such playing fields should have a common knowledge of what they are doing.
15. The food
This is one of the things that prove having an eye for the smallest details pays off in the long run. Whoever created this packaging allowed for a “no flavor” feature to be put on it.
16. The piano
Well, we thought that we have seen all types of pianos until now, but it seems we were wrong about that. Imagine the kind of person it takes to play this thing right.
17. The book
Creating a design for the cover of a book is a hard and very responsible task. To do it right, you need to send the right message. In this case, the message was Cumbrella.
18. The fan
We really hope nobody turns this fan on because you understand that would be a major disaster. It seems that whoever created this ventilation shaft had to think twice before installing it.
19. The sports
There are millions of ways to advertise any product. All you need to do is to have the right approach and present in the best possible way, but the volleyball picture is not an appropriate one here.
20. The mug
Here is something that is apparently wrong. There must have been a mistake allowed on the production line because you can see how there is a meow written under the image of a dog.
21. The USB port
When you design a machine, you need to be absolutely sure that everything about it is flawless and works correctly. Still, mistakes are often made, and this USB port shows one good example of that.
22. The sign
Now, this is one very strange way to put a sign. We get it: the idea was for it to be different and artistic, but the result is not practical at all.
23. The lettering
To be able to read this, you should stop and try to read one row at a time, but slowly. Whoever created this advertisement needs to know better.
24. The lid
You need to be careful when you take a to-go cup of coffee and check its lid. It seems that people sometimes forget to add the important feature – the small air hole on top of it.
25. The shirt
We know that some shirts and other pieces of clothing are not designed by native English speakers, but in some case you can tell that instantly. This is a great example of that.
26. The restroom
Restrooms come in all shapes and sizes. Some are luxurious and some are not at all. Still, there are such facilities that are nothing but odd, regardless of their location. This is one of those for obvious reasons.
27. The meal
What you see here is not a print ad from the 80s, but a recent Facebook post advertising a small eatery. We have no idea why these people created this awful design.
28. The colors
When you read the whole thing, it makes sense and we get the message. The curious part is why they decided to paint part of the sign in red color. This is an entirely new meaning altogether.
29. The emergency button
What you see here is the emergency stop button on a bus. People use it when they miss their stop and they notify the driver they need to get off at the next stop. Still, the button is placed on the armrest are which is weird.
30. The message
Here is yet another marketing stunt that seems to be too weird to be grasped by most people. The “Be Inseparable” message shown here is written peculiarly. Binseparable makes no sense.
31. The stalls
Here is yet another restroom that has an awful design. Privacy is key when it comes to a toilet, and you can see there is little privacy in this place.
32. The watch
Here is a design that could make your head spin. This is a product that obviously would be hard to use unless you get comfortable with the weird features it has. Form over function, we guess.
33. The sticker
We have seen a lot of “baby on board” stickers, but this one is surely one of the best ones. As you can see, the baby is “on-road” instead of on board the car, meaning that it probably has a driving license.
34. The elevator
If this does not make you cringe, we don’t know what will. This is one gruesome toy, and we are not sure what they tried to pull here. Those teeth really top it off.
35. The candle
This is one very unusual thing to see. It is obviously meant for people who want to dispose of their flags in an honorable way, but the bin is obviously not that different from any other one, so they had to put a sign on it.
