Dealing with family members who are special in a way is not always easy, as “special” may not exactly be a good thing. Using the platform provided by Reddit, one person decided to ask the community if he’d done something wrong.
This user’s brother used to be a known freeloader, taking advantage of his family members and friends for years. Long story short, this supposedly lazy person lost another job and had to stay with his younger brother – the person who told the story. Months passed, and the younger brother was fed up with the situation, and we can’t blame him for it. When he decided to tell his freeloading bro that it was time to pack his things and go, all the other family members tried to explain he was wrong, especially his aunt. Given this, the host simply transferred this older brother to his aunt’s place, given the fact she said that a family must support every member in need. Needless to say, this backfired massively, as the aunt changed her position immediately and demanded she did not want her older nephew at her place. It all seemed like the remarks about help from family members were not her thing anymore.
Of course, the younger brother had some remorse related to what he did. Given the circumstances, we guess he did what he had to do, and the aunt would simply know better not to give the type of advice she is not willing to take herself. Redditors had different things to say, but it seems they mostly approved what the younger bro did. You can read the whole discussion on Reddit.
Here is how the discussion started:

1. The congratulations

This is one of the comments on this Reddit topic that we liked the most, as it perfectly corresponds with the way we felt about this whole thing.
2. The action

Yes, this is true. There are always one or more family members who scold others about things they would never do themselves, and they need to get what they deserve.
3. The style

This person also approved of what the host did, and we guess that those who like to criticize others about this or that need to step up to the things they claim are right.
4. The problems

Here is one post that tells the truth. Instead of scolding, this aunt should have come up with a working solution. It is easy to judge from afar.
5. The meddle

Here is another side to the story we agree with. The aunt decided to join the commotion and tell her unsolicited opinion, and she finally got what she asked for.
6. The nice move

Here is how one person decided to suggest that the host should resort to more drastic measures next time the freeloading brother shows up on his doorstep.
7. The backfired plan

We are also sure that when the aunt called to scold the host for wanting to get rid of his older brother, she was happy that she intervened and had things her way. What comes around goes around, we guess.
8. The legend

Some people would probably just try to put up with such a relative indefinitely, but this person obviously did the right thing. We fully agree with this post.
9. The sibling

It seems that some people would probably not have the same reaction, but even if they tried to judge this host, they would probably do the same if they end up in the same situation.
10. The thing

Most people seem to be enjoying this ordeal, and we think that they would have done the exact same thing if they were in a similar situation.
11. The advice

This is an awesome piece of advice that we guess everyone should follow. It may lead to similar results like the ones described in this topic, but that would be natural.
12. The tab

This person was probably so excited about the whole thing that they asked for regular updates on the situation. We guess the freeloader is still staying at his aunt’s place.
13. The hero

This is another post that completely approves the host’s actions. This user explains in a simple way that those who speak loud need to hear themselves from time to time.
14. The title

Here is a post that explains why people should never ever judge something by merely reading its title or missing the point. Getting to know the facts is awesome.
15. The solution

We also think that it is a crying shame most people would never dare to confront people who behave like this host’s aunt. These people need to learn a lesson.
16. The slack

We really need to give the host some credit for putting up with his older brother for six months before finally deciding he and enough of it.
17. The smile

We know that this person tells the truth, and the aunt will surely not send a postcard for Christmas or another occasion. Still, the host did the right thing.
18. The deal

There is no surprise in the fact that everyone on Reddit wanted to applaud this person for being tolerant as much as he could, and for the way he handled everything later.
19. The brilliant decision

This is a post we like. It tells things as they are. One should always be prepared to give an example of the things they preach, and this aunt was not ready.
20. The room

It seems that this aunt really told the right thing when she scolded her younger nephew, but she did not expect it to turn against her.
21. The epic thing

Calling out someone to live up to their statements is always a good idea, but people do not dare this as often as they should. We think that they should do it whenever they can.
22. The respect

This is the actual problem. The older brother had to take matters into his own hands. We know it might be tough to live life sometimes, but we think that nothing could stop you if you are determined enough.
23. The problem solver

It seems that this host became Reddit’s favorite problem solver. We cannot blame people for admiring everything he was able to come up with.
24. The chuckle

There is no surprise in the fact that many people are trying to figure out why the older brother still needs to be a freeloader instead of pulling it together.
25. The votes

There are Reddit users who were probably inspired by this awesome story, and we guess that a standing ovation would be appropriate for this.
26. The friends

We agree with this post, as we also think this person already knew he did the right thing. He still wanted to make sure that he did what he had to do.
27. The approval

We also think that is admirable how this person provided a roof over his brother’s head despite not being obliged to do it, and he did the right thing after that.
28. The saying

Practice what you preach is the best line to use in this case. The aunt needs to learn this, and she probably did learn it after her nephew taught her this valuable lesson.
29. The people

Many people have been in the host’s shoes, and only some of them have been able to stand up for themselves, just like this host did.
30. The thanks

We completely agree with this post, as we have seen how people behave in the most ungrateful of ways after receiving help from their friends or family members.
31. The reminder

There were two reminders here. The host reminded the aunt that she had to do what it took to follow her own advice, and she reminded him of the family values prior to that.
32. The win

The aunt should have never intervened, but it seems she did not expect this scolding to backfire in her face like that.
33. The time

This is surely the kind of thing nobody is prepared for, so acting in the best possible way might be hard, but not impossible.
